Blog Entry: Soaring food prices can be attributed to governments' hare brained scheme to subsidize biofuel production as a way to combat greenhouse gases and lessen reliance on foreign oil.
The problem is that the greater demand is pushing up prices for agriculture products. As the result of the high prices, more forests are being razed to grow corn, wheat and soybeans.
The net effect is the poor are struggling to feed themselves and green house emissions are actually going up.
