Blog Entry: China and Japan on Wednesday agreed to work out guidelines for a healthy development of their strained ties. Some of the issues both countries agreed to work on include the economy, energy and the environment. This meeting highlighted the pragmatism of the two countries.
Despite the tensions caused by what had occurred in the past, both China and Japan are willing to work together to further their countries' economic well being. For the West, this presents both challenges and opportunities.
There is no doubt that these Asian companies will become more competitive in every sense. We will have to continue working harder and smarter if we want to stay in business.
With the huge Chinese population improving their standards of living, there will be opportunities with their bigger consumer markets. Penetrating these markets will take time and patience.
