Blog Entry: The United States is going through challenging times right now. Huge government deficits, a weak housing market and the Iraq war that is getting worse everyday. People are saying that the U.S. economic and political might is eroding and will soon be overtaken by the Chinese.
I think otherwise. The U.S. will always have challenges. Our country has always demonstrated the ability to rise to the occassion. People forget that the U.S. is the biggest benafactor to many international development programs. During times of major disasters around the globe, you will see the U.S. Marines already there helping out. For all its talk of promoting human rights, the UN is held back by corruption and competing agendas among its members. Just look at what's happening in Darfur.
Like many Anglo Saxon countries, the United States thrive thanks to its pragmitism and believe of rising to the occassion. We give opportunities to people regardless of race or social standing. Our economic system encourages and rewards those seeking prsperity. We do while others talk.
